TSS Academy is pleased to announce its official acceptance into the Pacific Coast Soccer League (PCSL) starting in the spring of 2010. The PCSL is a highly competitive league for men and women in premier and reserve divisions with a season that runs typically from May to August. After recently celebrating its 75th anniversary, the PCSL is one of the oldest soccer leagues in the entire Pacific Northwest with member clubs from the BC interior, the Fraser Valley, the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, as well as Washington State and Oregon at times.
TSS will be fielding 2 teams starting in the spring of 2010: a Women's Premier team and a Women's Reserve team. The Women's Premier team will be populated primarily with TSS U18 Academy team players as well as TSS alumni who are now playing at the college level. The Women's Premier league is comprised of teams such as Chilliwack FC, Fraser Valley Action, as well as the Whitecaps U18 Prospects. The TSS Women's Premier team will be coached by Colin Elmes, the Managing Director of TSS.
The Women's Reserve team will be populated primarily with TSS U17 Academy players as well as some U18 players and TSS alumni who are now playing at the college level. The PCSL Women's Reserve league is comprised of teams such as Kamloops Heat, Penticton Pinnacles, and Kelowna United. The TSS Women's Reserve team will be coached by Brendan Quarry, the Assistant Director of the TSS girl's program.
"We're very excited about this opportunity," says TSS Managing Director Colin Elmes. "In the 13 year history of TSS, this is the first time we've been entered into an established league such as the PCSL. We were drawn to this league because of its professionalism and its competitive environment. We were also drawn to this league because it contains no district boundaries - just like our academy. I'm confident our U17-U18 girls at TSS will benefit tremendously from this league as we link them with our more experienced TSS alumni." Both teams will be training side by side throughout the spring and summer. The primary focus of the Women's Reserve team will be college showcase so TSS will continue to provide those opportunities.
